Interest for FIFA Under-17 World Cup to be held in India later this year from October 6 to 24, is definitely building. Javier Ceppi, the FIFA Under-17 World Cup Local Organising Committee (LOC) technical director, announced that one lakh tickets have been sold till now in phase II of the official ticket sales. A total of 139,760 tickets were up for sale.”The fact that we have already sold 100,000 tickets for the World Cup when we are still 84 days from the start of the tournament, speaks volumes of the interest from fans into coming and watch the tournament. Ever since we opened the sales, it has defied the usual pattern for events here, where people wake up at the last minute and get the tickets then,” Ceppi said. The Phase II of the ticket sales had begun immediately after the official draw took place on July 7, with tickets being offered for the matches in Kochi and Kolkata, and were all sold out within three days. Tickets for Guwahati too are edging closer to exhausting its inventory in this phase.”We already have 100,000 fans that want to come to the stadiums, and it is very exciting. We are on the right track to show the whole world, full stadiums for the World Cup,” Ceppi added.
