The engine of a Patna-bound train detached thrice in a span of three hours as it was travelling through Saharanpur. Early on Friday morning, as the train was approaching the Sarsawa station at 2.30 a.m., the coupling that keeps the engine attached to the the train broke. The engine sped away while the rest of the the train jolted and stopped. No one was hurt. The train stayed at the spot for over an hour and resumed its onwards journey at 3.17 a.m. But a little later, at about 4.25 a.m., the engine detached again as the train was approaching the Pilakhani Station. The coupling was once again fixed and the train left at 5.10 a.m. But it had hardly travelled two kilometres when the same problem cropped up for the third time near the Khan Alampura train yard at 5.35 a.m.According to a local railway official, the rake was finally attached to an alternate locomotive.
